KIRSTY PURIFOY

Dedicated to Wellbeing

Kirsty created Flourish Yoga Therapy by blending her experiences in evidence based occupational therapy, psychology and Medical Therapeutic Yoga to enhance wellness in the body, mind and spirit of her students.

Mind

A bachelor of science degree in psychology from Texas Woman’s University empowers Kirsty to be perceptive of the emotional and motivational needs in her clients. She uses this knowledge to encourage her clients and provide a safe and comfortable environment to relieve stress, find confidence and become more self-aware.

Body

A master's degree in occupational therapy from Texas Woman’s University has enabled Kirsty to work in the medical field since 2001. As an occupational therapist, she has worked with a variety of conditions, including: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, scoliosis, osteoporosis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, high/low blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, Parkinson’s disease, fractures, head injuries, spinal pain, injuries and surgeries. Kirsty encourages wellness, quality of life and goal achievement in her clients by developing programs to help them gain strength, mobility and independence.

Spirit

After falling in love with Ashtanga yoga in 2003, Kirsty completed over 550 hours of yoga teacher training. Her experience deepened her connection with her inner spirit. She feels that finding that connection is an essential part of wellness, and can nurture that aspect of a student's practice if desired.

Flourish

Kirsty combined her love of yoga and experience in healthcare to take a more holistic approach to rehabilitation. She completed her Medical Therapeutic Yoga(MTY) studies at the Professional Yoga Therapy Institute (PYTI) in 2016. By blending her experiences in occupational therapy, psychology and Medical Therapeutic Yoga, she created Flourish Yoga Therapy to enhance wellness in the mind, body and spirit in her clients.
